This is an ideal fall cocktail while the berries are ripe and plentiful but really, it’s a crowd pleaser all year long.  The blackberry flavor will remind you of the summer past, while the Rye Whiskey with it’s warm spicy notes, will prepare you for the cold winter months ahead.  This spin on a classic cocktail strikes a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, while highlighting our Pacific Northwest flavors.

INGREDIENTS

2-3 whole blackberries (fresh if you can find them but frozen will work)
1 orange slice
2 ounces Bunker Rye Whiskey
1 ounce Whidbey Island Blackberry Liqueur
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Splash of soda water

INSTRUCTIONS

Muddle 2 blackberries, orange slice, and 2 dashes of bitters in a traditional old fashion cocktail glass.  Add the Bunker Rye whiskey and Blackberry Liqueur.  Fill the glasses with ice, stir, and top with a splash of soda water.  Skewer a blackberry for garnish.
